Hello from the Children & Staff
Croeso y Banc y Felin means welcome to Millbank in Welsh

WHAT'S HAPPENING THIS WEEK

Edition 350 Friday 20th January 2012The RSPB's BIG SCHOOL BIRDWATCH is still on and so we will be in the garden looking again out for our little feathered friends.

It is the Chinese New Year of the Dragon on Monday, which is a great excuse to explore different cultures and challenge what we know about time or ways of writing.

Wednesday is of course St Dwynwen's Day this saint is often referred to as the 'Welsh St Valentines' but is far better suited to schools and young children as its plutonic love and friendship rather than all the soppy stuff. Class 3 had practiced making their Fairtrade welsh cakes and were eager to show the infants too. There are lots of Fun activities at St Fagans this weekend. It's also Burn's Night

Thursday is Australia Day

Friday is Holocaust Memorial Day, which for any school keen to teach Rights is an important day to remember what can happen if we ignore them. The theme for 2012 is 'Speak Up, Speak Out', challenging each of us to speak up and speak out against hatred and discrimination so that we learn the lessons of the past to create a safer, better future.

On a more upbeat note on Friday we are also have a FUN d'raising day for Kenya again with the Juniors having a 70's disco and the Infants a Circus theme day. Lots of dressing up and fun events and activities with all the money raised going to help the AMAF school in Kenya.

No CaptionWe have already started the Book Swap in the Library the box there is for children to recycle any good books or comics. In the staff room is a box for Adults to swap their books, why not have a look during the Monday coffee morning.

Its an important year with the school celebrating 110 years, the Olympics and the Queen's Jubilee too. We also have even more links with Kenya planned too, so keep those great ideas about how you can support the school and enhance your child's education.

Do not forget that we want to recycle as much fabric and textiles as possible in our bank at the entrance to the school, shoes, bedding as long as it is clean pop it in the bank. We are also collecting used Papermate, Sharpie and Berol pens for recycling and now Bic pens too.

We have been asked to list some of the awards we have achieved on the website and we are trying out different layouts. Just put your mouse over the award to read about it or click on it to visit the site. Please tell us your thoughts if you think we should add others or omit the ones below- Many thanks.

Click to visit the old websiteWe set up our first website as prior to the schools centenary celebrations in 2002, it has been a really useful tool in communicating with parents actually showing them just some of the activities that go on everyday at the school. We have received compliments from around the world on the 'quality & friendliness' of our school, the pupils really appreciate this. Why not take the time to explore our old website by clicking the monitor opposite

We hope that the Council's school IT service will put the website back up again soon.
